Our conversion services

The conversion activity has also had a positive impact on our portfolio as much as our “recycle old into new” approach. We see the transformation of existing assets into improved or quasi new assets with different functionalities, as a noticeable improvement to the protection of the environment. Why dispose of an asset and build another one, when you can convert an existing piece of equipment and transform it to your client needs, is our philosophy. Basically, do not give your client what you have, but rather give him what he needs.

To date, we have been involvedin the conversion of various type of assets like FSOs/FPSOs, jack ups and offshore service vessels.

FSO & FPSO

Want a 2nd life for a tanker?
We can give you an F(P)SO

In this exercise, not only do we assist our clients in upgrading and revamping a unit but also we help in the selection process of the right doner vessel using the virtues of existing tankers (Ice class Hull / Boilers / Trading history / Construction) and transforming them for other required functionalities.

Jack ups

Capacity to change a mono-product into a flurry of supporting assets

Two approaches in this sector. Either reactivate tools that already have a required set of functionalities or upgrade the units into “swiss army knives”, permitting our clients to reduce the number of assets supporting a specific operation. This not only optimizes and rejuvenates mature equipment but also permits our clients to have a smaller carbon footprint and make savings by having assets that can do the functionalities of various units at the same time.

7 Platforms already delivered and 5 conversions ongoing
In certain parts of the world where production is done in shallow waters, this new concept of Self-installed Platform based on the conversion of existing drilling jack-ups, designed in conjunction with some of our principles, is a cost-efficient alternative for marginal field operators with an accelerated delivery schedule.

As of today we have delivered 3 platforms in our yard where we have completed the entire engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning works. On 4 other platforms delivered we have brought our expertise in those kind of project by assisting our clients in the performance of the engineering, and construction works in West Africa and Trinidad and Tobago.

With 7 platforms already delivered, we continue to see a growing need for this new type of structure and, in parallel, continue to adapt and improve the newest designs in order to enhance client returns.

Offshore Service Vessels

Change an asset into a “one stop shop”

Two approaches in this sector. Either reactivate tools that already have a required set of functionalities or upgrade the units into “swiss army knives”, permitting our clients to reduce the number of assets supporting a specific operation. This not only optimizes and rejuvenates mature equipment but also permits our clients to have a smaller carbon footprint and make savings by having assets that can do the functionalities of various units at the same time. On a more conventional basis, we also have a track record in specialty vessel building.
