In a groundbreaking step towards carbon neutrality, Perenco, together with Dixstone and Petrodec, has successfully completed the world’s first carbon injection trial into a depleted gas reservoir, the Leman field, 48 km off the UK coast.

From the Dixstone yard in Vlissingen, and with the significant role of Petrodec’s Erda jack-up rig, the team has successfully injected CO₂ deep beneath the seabed. This project demonstrates that legacy gas fields can be repurposed for safe, large-scale CO₂ storage, a vital milestone in the global energy transition.
