About the Role:
As a Marine Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and compliant operation of the Company’s fleet. Working closely with the Marine Compliance department, you will assist in maintaining the Company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensure compliance with international maritime standards. This position involves managing vessel documentation, certifications, audits, and communication with flag states and classification societies, helping to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory adherence across the fleet.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the DPA/CSO (Marine Compliance department) with the implementation and maintenance of ISM/ISO certifications, and support compliance with IMS principles.
- Review and update the IMS, company, and vessel-related documents; prepare internal fleet circulars; and maintain monthly IMS documentation.
- Coordinate and follow up on internal audits and non-conformities; develop and maintain the annual audit plan for both office and vessels.
- Communicate with flag states and classification societies regarding audits, surveys, and certification, and track renewal dates for class surveys and certificates.
- Manage all document control procedures, including technical documents, certificates, drawings, and plans; organise and file hard and soft copies accordingly.
- Maintain the log of incoming and outgoing correspondence, download and distribute Flag/IMO/IMCA circulars, and forward relevant updates to vessels.
- Maintain and update the Planned Maintenance Software (PMS) and ensure vessel compliance with the latest regulatory documentation.
Qualifications:
- A degree from a shipping college or university.
- Good knowledge of the English language.
- A well-established work experience in shipping.
- Adequate PC knowledge.
- Good communication, interpersonal and listening skills.
- Understanding of QHSE best practice and legislation.
